Walk-in Covid vaccination clinic opens for shoppers in retail park

A walk-in clinic for people to get their Covid-19 jab booster will open on Boxing Day – with a pop-up clinic opening in Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park next week.

Boxing Day Walk-In Vaccination Clinic on December 26 will open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Horwich RMI.

Vaccination centers will be opened across the borough next week to ensure people receive their booster shots in time for the New Year to protect themselves from the Omicron variant.

Among them there will be a pop-up clinic in the popular business park. It will be located near the Vue cinema in the old Argos unit.

Dr Zaheda Atch said: “The Middlebrook Retail Park will be busy next week and we want to make vaccinations more accessible to people.

“That way they can show up and get vaccinated quickly without an appointment.

“The pop-up clinic will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 p.m. to 6 p.m.”

All walk-in clinics in the borough offer reminders for people 18 years of age and over if it has been at least three months since their second dose, as well as the first and second doses for those over 16.

For 12-15 year olds, the first and second doses can be obtained without an appointment at the Market Place Shopping Center, Horwich RMI and Hootons at Bolton Wanderers Football Club. There must be at least 12 weeks since their first dose and they must be accompanied by a parent / guardian to give consent.

In addition, some sites offer third doses for people with weakened immune systems. They can get it as early as eight weeks after their second jab if they have a letter from the NHS.

Appointments are also available at Peter House Surgery, Westhoughton for all doses. They are intended for patients in the Unsworth Group and Stable Fold practices. Text COVID, your initials and your date of birth to:

• 07730 765245 – Patients of the Unsworth group

• 07587 554149 – Patients with stable folds

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JVCI) recommended this week that 5-11 year olds who are clinically vulnerable be offered a Covid vaccination, and that the boosters be extended to 16 and 17 year olds.

Clinicians are waiting for advice on how and when this will be done. Please check the Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group website and social media for updates.

Dr Helen Wall, senior immunization program manager in Bolton, urged people to receive their booster as soon as they are eligible.

She said, “The holidays are a busy time of year and people can have a lot of plans, but getting your reminder is quick and easy and you don’t even need to make an appointment.

“Many of our sites are not reporting any queues and the 15-minute wait time after being stung has been abolished. during the holiday season, but the majority will only have a stiff or sore arm. It’s better to catch the Covid!

“Please make a resolution for the start of the year and get bitten!” ”
