A family clinic owned by the husband and wife team, Dr. Kevin and Natasha McDonald, Tir na nÓg offers affordable yet extensive hair transplant surgeries aimed at transforming patient confidence.
The couple studied at NUI Galway and Natasha is from Co Mayo. Her husband, Dr Kevin McDonald, is a highly qualified surgeon, who has worked in some of the best public and private hospitals in Ireland and the UK.
Although the clinic offers a range of aesthetic treatments, it specializes in hair transplant surgeries. Hair loss can occur for various reasons, such as male pattern baldness, stress or illness. Natasha tells me the clinic is dealing with an unprecedented amount of stress-related hair loss and scalp irritation.
Many men struggle with the transition of hair loss, which significantly affects their self-esteem and confidence. As hair restoration technology has advanced, so has the number of Irish men undergoing procedures to achieve a look they are more comfortable with.
“The treatments we recommend to our patients are purely medical, while being able to deliver them at an affordable price. We offer packages tailored to our clients’ needs and work closely with them as a team to provide a long-term, holistic solution to your hair loss,” says Natasha.
The treatment plan includes initial and preoperative consultations with Dr. McDonald, the procedure itself, a two-week postoperative follow-up (which includes PRP), and postoperative examinations at three, six, and 12 months.
These packages are for both medical and non-surgical treatments, costing between €2,000 and €4,000. Tir na nÓg also offers PRP (platelet-rich plasma), a therapy that uses injections of a concentration of the patient’s own platelets to speed healing, after a few weeks of their transplant. Medicines to prevent additional hair loss are also offered and can help regrow dormant hair.
“We’re a tight-knit team here at our clinic, and we like to be as open as possible,” Natasha tells me. The Tir n nÓg team is transparent when it comes to discussing treatments with patients. Patients are never coerced into any kind of procedure. If surgery is proposed (this will only happen if both Dr. McDonald and the patient have decided so), a comprehensive treatment plan is provided, including unlimited communication with the clinic before and after the surgery .
“What is most important to the Tir na nÓg clinic team is that our patients receive the best possible treatment for their hair loss. We regularly see them coming back with hair and, more importantly, newfound confidence.
