Northumbria Business Clinic graduate bolsters North East insurance broker’s online presence

A Northumbria University graduate has boosted a North East insurance broker’s approach to digital marketing after shining on a business consultancy project.

Freddie Wilkinson moved to Newcastle in 2015 to pursue his interest in business studies at Northumbria University’s world-renowned business school. In his senior year, he enrolled in the award-winning program business clinic to work with NC Insurance to solve a real business problem.

Based in Gateshead and renowned throughout the region for its industry expertise, NC Insurance offers bespoke packages and forward-thinking risk management advice for businesses and individuals looking for cost-effective insurance solutions.

With marketing becoming a vital tool for businesses to reach customers in the digital age, the company had reviewed its business goals in an effort to grow its online presence. The company first contacted The Business Clinic at Newcastle Business School in Northumbria in 2015 to discuss its goals and whether it could support them.

After working with NC Insurance and impressing COO Mark Burdett during the consulting project, Freddie was offered an internship at NC Insurance and tasked with improving the company’s digital presence.

Freddie’s weekly tasks included SEO optimization, implementing meta descriptions, and creating online blog content to drive organic traffic to the NC Insurance website.

Since its inception in 2013, the pioneering Business Clinic has provided businesses across the region with free student-led consultancy advice to some 600 clients, worth an estimated £3.3million.
