Flu Vaccine & Booster Clinic Set – Farmville

Flu Reminder and Vaccination Clinic Set

Posted 10:29 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2022

Do you need to get your flu shot? Are you eligible for a COVID-19 reminder? The Piedmont Health District will offer both Friday, October 14 at Crewe Elementary School, located at 10321 East Colonial Trail Highway. Both shots will be free during the clinic, which runs from 5:30 a.m. at 7:30 p.m.

Health district officials said drop-in visits are welcome and appointments are not required. However, if you would like to go ahead and reserve a spot, you can pre-register by calling 1-877-829-4682. English and Spanish speaking operators will be available and translation services will be available in over 100 languages.

Only standard-dose influenza vaccines and updated COVID-19 bivalent boosters will be offered. Boosters include Pfizer for ages 12+ and Moderna for ages 18+.

Now, when we say a booster shot, let’s be clear. These are given at least two months after your first round of COVID-19 vaccines. These cannot work as a primary dose. So if you haven’t yet had a COVID-19 vaccine, these reminders won’t help. If you are coming for the booster, please bring your vaccine card to confirm the date of your last COVID vaccine and the type of vaccine you received.

When it comes to flu shots, we’re heading into this time of year, so health officials are suggesting people go ahead and get their shots. The CDC recommends everyone 65 and older get high-dose flu shots, which are only available at our health clinics.
